Kaskade

Arguably one of biggest DJs around, Kaskade was voted America’s #1 DJ. The first single his latest album, Fire & Ice has seen a major makeover. “Eyes,” remixes was released today, with mixes coming from R3hab, Alvin Risk and Swanky Tunes. All 3 are polar opposites but are enjoyable recognizing this massive hit.

Grammy Nominations

Some interesting news we thought we would share. Skrillex has been nominated for not just for one Grammy award, but five! Good news for EDM, or bad news for EDM? Or just happy he put out the new Koan Sound EP? Either way a great achievement for any artist.

Who's Wearing The Cap

One of the great things about collaboration tracks like this is that it usually comes with a pretty good story on how it was made/named. This one is no different asSander van Doorn says “People sometimes mix me up with Luke, so in the studio, he was wearing a cap, we took a picture for Twitter asking, ‘Who’s Wearing The Cap?’ and that became the name of the track!”

The synth hits almost feels like something something Swedish House Mafia would do, but then it drops into a more bass mood more accustomed to Laidback Luke & Sander Van Doorn‘s stylings.

Laidback Luke & Sander Van Doorn – Who’s Wearing The Cap

The Bloody Beetroots

Nothing hits the speaker max quicker than some Bloody Beetroots. Their new song Church of Noise is a reckless, massive tune with an overload of bass. Here are the two remixes from Diplo and Congorock that came out this week.

Long Lost Eighties

This is the first in a series of blog posts of long lost Eighties tunes. Songs that were big club hits in their day, but somehow have been lost in time. Most were one hit wonders, and all will be worth listing to...

We start out with an electro new wave band: Our Daughters Wedding (Sounds like early Depeche Mode & OMD)

Originally form San Francisco, Our Daughters Wedding started playing in 1977, lasting for about a year before breaking up. Then, just before the 80s began, they met up in New York and decided to start all over again, this time going totally electronic, with drum machines and synthesizers. By mid 1980, they scored their one and only hit with the dance club favorite: "Lawnchairs" (Design Records).

The band signed with EMI records and released the 5 song EP "Digital Cowboy" which featured a re-recording of "Lawnchairs", this time using real drums. In 1982 they released their second and last LP "Moving Windows" - but the band broke up not long after.

Dada Life

Dada Life’s “Happy Violence” closed out the summer with a bang. It’s definitely a contender as one of the biggest tunes of 2011. The track has received remixes from talented artist like Kaskade, who actually did a track with Dada Life for his recent album Fire & Ice, Swanky Tunes, Uppermost, and Caveat, who recently released his remix of “Happy Violence” which continues to receive great reviews from critics and fans alike. Stefan and Olle, the guys of Dada Life, dropped the vocal mix of “Happy Violence” this past October at the Tiesto’s Club Life College Tour in Los Angeles at the Home Depot Center.

Either way each version of “Happy Violence” is legit and difficult not to jam to. Pick up the EP here. Last week Rollingstone released the official music video for Dada Life’s “Happy Violence” vocal mix. For fans, the guys are currently in the studio recording new material, who’s excited? I know I am. Enjoy..
