Devo have been making music since the 70s. Their latest album Something For Everybody features a song called Don't Shoot (I'm A Man). It is a pretty rad song that includes the production expertise of Santigold (Sant White) and The Bird and The Bee's Greg Kurstin. Although the single was released last year, the album was barely released last month. I'm posting this song because of the recent Johannes Mehserle verdict. For those of you who aren't familiar with the case, it had to do with an officer who shot a young male and claimed that he thought he had shot off his taser. The jury decided on involuntary manslaughter. The reason for posting this song is because Devo is singing about not only having to stress about being stuck in the rat race, but now having to fear for your life. Although Devo does it in their quirky way, the lyrics are pretty blunt. In a song having to do about shooting they sing "Don't tase me bro", which seems like a direct comment on the incident. What do you think? Check out the video below. -Andrew Disorder
My favorite Japanese DJ-Producer is back with a new single. After EEAA, his last massive club hit remixed by Mustard Pimp, Shinichi Osawa has teamed up with Tommy Sunshine to bring us the new anthem for the summer. -Bruce Perdew
Want a certified dance hit? Just give a call to French producer David Guetta, pay the moolah, and you’re good! You can criticize Flo Rida’s lyricism all you want but he definitely makes music you can rock at the club to. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear this on the radio in a couple weeks / months. Fun stuff. -Bruce Perdew
